The Head of the Clare Garda Division wants to be able to hire more civilian staff to allow Gardaí get out on the beat.
Chief Superintendent John Kerin has told the Joint Policing Committee, that it could be a number of years before there's any significant rise in Garda numbers here.

He's welcomed the ongoing recruitment of Gardaí but believes it's still won't provide enough growth in numbers within the force.
