The head of a Clare company which is looking to develop more wind farms here is calling for a public vote to determine what people really think of them.
Padraig Howard's West Clare Renewable Energy is working on a number of wind farm projects both in Clare and elsewhere in Ireland, but developments of this kind have been met with strong opposition in a number of communities.

Residents have objected to the impact of wind farms on sightlines, and on houses closest to them, while the government is currently working on new planning guidelines for the wind energy industry.
Padraig Howard believes people are supportive of renewable energy, but thinks they should be given a say.
