The Health Minister has called on Clare’s Sinn Féin TD to withdraw comments that she made in relation to the HPV vaccine.
In social media posts in 2017, that have been reported on in today’s Irish Independent, the Kirush woman said she thought that the vaccine has side-effects, and that those who raised concerns about the vaccine are not bring heard.
The HPV vaccine has been endorsed by the HSE and international health authorities, and Sinn Féin has said that the comments do not reflect Sinn Féin policy.
Minister Simon Harris said Deputy Wynne’s comments are unacceptable.
We have worked so hard on cross party basis & with medical community & patient advocates to promote HPV vaccine & vaccinations in general. Vaccines save lives. These comments are unacceptable from any public representative and should be withdrawn https://t.co/SjIGl5JnJm
