Harty Concerned Over Impact Of Under-funding Of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland

Clare’s Independent TD is expressing concern about the impact that the under-funding of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland’s Clarecastle service is having on patients.

The organisation provides vital services, from occupational therapy to speech and language and physiotherapy to those who have suffered severe injuries in the likes of car crashes, strokes or serious assaults.

Funding that was cut for Section 39 agencies, including Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, as an austerity measure has not yet been restored to pre-recession levels.

A report produced in February recommended the restoration of funding and Dr Michael Harty has again raised the issue in the Dáil, saying now it’s crucial to help the most vulnerable in society.
