Health Minister Admits Trolley Numbers Too High As 68 Patients Wait For Beds At UHL

Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is climbing again today.

The latest INMO figures show 68 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 39 of those in the Emergency Department alone.

The overall figure is 21 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital and comes on a day when 603 patients have been left waiting on trolleys across the country.

Health Minister Simon Harris says while the amount of people waiting is too high, he is trying to address it with additional funding.
