Hospital Protest Aims To Highlight Persistent Levels Of Overcrowding

A protest is being held outside University Hospital Limerick this evening to highlight persistently high levels of overcrowding there.

Trolley numbers peaked at 82 last week, the highest ever figure recorded in Ireland, while accroding to INMO figures, there has been at least 70 patients left waiting for beds for much of this week.

The Midwest Hospital Campaign is calling for funding for the 96 bed unit to be prioritised and for measures to be taken in the interim to ease the level of overcrowding at the Dooradoyle facility.
