The UL Hospitals Group is urging Clare parents to be aware of the signs of early-onset diabetes in children and not to be put off coming to hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those with the condition are among the patients categorised as “high risk”, should they contract the coronavirus.
Frequent urination or wetting the bed, extreme thirst and weight loss are the tell-tale signs in children.
