People With Non-COVID Illnesses Urged Not To Suffer In Silence

A prominent Ennis GP is urging people with illnesses not related to COVID-19 not to suffer in silence and to contact their family doctor for help.

The Irish College of General Practitioners says there have been reports of patients with chronic illnesses, including heart disease, not contacting their GP, over fears that pandemic restrictions will mean they will not be seen.

However, all medical centres are accepting phone calls from patients and, where it is deemed safe and necessary, they will be admitted to see a doctor.

Ennis GP Dr Tony Cox, who is medical director of the ICGP, says they’ve been concerned with some of the stories trickling through to them.
