Quin Man With Terminal Cancer Hits Out At HSE After Medical Card Twice Revoked

A Quin man with incurable cancer is hitting out at the HSE over it’s treatment of people with a terminal diagnosis.

John Wall is entitled to a medical card without a means test, after being dignosed with stage four cancer, but despite this his card has been cancelled on two occasions.

In the past, anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness was granted a medical card after 24 hours and this was reviewed after six months, but following a campaign by patient groups, the review was extended to 18 months.

John’s been posting about his experience on social media and has received thousands of messages of support. He says the whole system is shocking.
