Heated Exchanges At Clare Council Meeting Over Roads Funding

There's been heated exchanges at Clare County's Council's monthly meeting over the distribution of roads funding within the county.

Councillors have been told that a surplus of 400,000 euro is to be distributed among the county's four municipal districts.

It will be split up on the basis on the length of roads in each area, meaning West Clare and Killaloe will receive more than Ennis and Shannon.

But at last evening's meeting, Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn was among those who argued that the money should have been split equally, and that the decision should have been made by all Councillors.
