Michael D Higgins will return home to Galway this afternoon, where he’ll attend an event to mark his victory in the Presidential election.
The former Labour Minister, who received over one million votes to become the ninth president, will arrive at an open air celebration on Eyre Square at around half past 4.
His inauguration will take place on Friday, November 11th.
