324 security operations were conducted at Shannon in 2013 and this rate has continued this year but junior Minister Paul Kehoe has insisted this is standard practice, and has been since 2003.
Responding to questions from the Dáil's technical group, however, he said it's not up to the Irish Army to search military aircraft.
