The University of Limerick Hospitals Group says it welcomes a new highly critical HIQA report.
The document highlights serious concerns over infection control, overcrowding and hand hygiene at the Dooradoyle facility.

In particular HIQA says the practice of placing additional beds in wards raises issues for infection control practices.
The report is based on two on the spot inspections and in a statement to Clare FM the hospital group says the document also recognises improvements which have been made since the first of these visits.
However East Clare Fine Gael Cllr and HSE Health Forum west member Pat Burke says the document is cause for concern.
