It’s claimed Cityjet’s Shannon to Paris service is yet another victim of the government’s ten euro travel tax.
On Friday the company announced it was axing the route from the end of next month due to a serious slump in passenger numbers given the ongoing economic downturn which it says has hit Shannon the hardest.
It cites several high profile jobs blows at Element Six and Dell as having a major impact on its business service and after expanding the route, the numbers simply weren’t there anymore.
Cityjet’s CEO says the government has failed to act to counteract the effects of the recession.a view echoed by Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen but he’s hopeful the service can be restored in the future
