Hopes EU Commissioner Visit will boost Mid West Prospects

Efforts are being boosted today, to provide badly needed European funding to boost employment prospects in Clare and Limerick, in the wake of several high profile job losses.

EU Commissioner Vladimir Spidla is visiting the region later this week to see first hand the fallout from job losses at companies like Dell, Molex, Element Six and GE Money.

The Irish Government has applied for financial aid from Europe through the Globalisation Fund which aims to support workers aims to support workers, in regions disadvantaged by the worldwide downturn.
