Hopes that Blackwater Murder Can Still Be Solved

The family of murder victim Sean Poland who was gunned down at his South East Clare home a decade ago today remain hopeful that those responsible will be caught.

The 39 year old car dealer was shot dead during an armed raid at his home in Blackwater, Ardnacrusha on New Year’s Eve 2002, while his partner was assaulted and tied up.

Several arrests have been made in connection with his killing but no-one’s ever been charged, and gardai and the family of the late Sean Poland have made fresh appeals for public assistance to coincide with his tenth anniversary.

Speaking to Clare FM, Sean’s sister, Marie Horgan appealed to anyone who may have information about the events of New Years eve 2002 in Blackwater to come forward and "clear their conscience".

Anyone with information on the murder of Sean Poland is asked to contact Henry Street Gardai on 061 212400 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111
