Hopes have been expressed that the installation of a new water mains in the Parteen area will put an end to ongoing issues in the locality.
Councillor Cathal Crowe is commenting after several hundred homes in the Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Clonlara and Meelick areas were left without a water supply last week on account of a burst water mains.

He says a section of roadway had to be excavated to facilitate remedial works and after supply was restored, it took several hours for pressure to reach all homes across the network.
Councillor Crowe admits that people will be frustrated with planned water outages while the pipes are being laid, but he insists that the works at O'Connor's Cross will have long term benefits.
