Water restrictions across County Clare are being stepped up today with the introduction of a hosepipe ban.
It applies to both householders and businesses and is part of efforts to conserve water supplies which are running low due to the prolonged dry weather.

The ban covers Ennis, Clarecastle, Barefield, Crusheen, all public supplies in North Clare and Tulla as well as the connected group water schemes in the above areas.
The ban, will be in place for a month and any one found in breach of it could face prosecution and or a fine.
