Clare hoteliers have branded as "shambolic" the policy approach by local authorities in dealing with businesses facing difficulties in paying their rates.
In a hard hitting statement the Shannon Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation claimed its members are at the mercy of council managers they allege are high handed in their approach to assisting distressed companies.
The IHF is now calling on the managers of Ennis Town and Clare County Council to put in place a workable system for arranging settlements based on agreed policies that work for hotels and guest houses in difficulty
Chairman of the IHF in the Shannon region and Lahinch Hotelier Michael Vaughan says they are looking for fair play from the county council.
