Clare householders are being warned to be on alert for a conman who has been impersonating a member of the Gardaí in an effort to gain access to people’s homes.

It follows several incidents across the county in recent weeks including Killaloe, Ennistymon and most recently Newmarket on Fergus.
In this incident which happened on Tuesday last, the suspect failed in his bid to gain access to a home in the area and left empty handed
