The HSE says it will advertise the vacant GP position in Feakle within two weeks.
Health service officials had already indicated that they would re-advertise the role, despite two failed attempts to secure a doctor for the East Clare village.

This decision has now been confirmed, while it's also been confirmed that in light of the exceptional circumstances, doctors who are already serving in another area will be allowed to apply.
This means it's possible that a part-time service could be opened up in Feakle.
