The HSE is once again urging patients to attend their local GP today and avoid the emergency department at Dooradoyle if at all possible.
The region’s main hospital is experiencing a surge in demand resulting in the deferral of 48 day surgical procedures and the closure of surgical day wards until tomorrow.
Yesterday nurses reported 26 patients on trolleys in the A and E in Limerick and the HSE says possible avenue is being explored in order to resolve the unprecedented demand.
