Drinking water dispensers for patients and visitors at Ennis General have been removed from the hospital.
It’s all part of a cost cutting initiative by the Health Service Executive which says a quarter of a million euro is spent on supplying the water to hospitals across the Mid West Network.
The HSE says the dispensers have been removed from all hospitals across the region and that the public supply available at all the medical facilities is tested regularly and consistently proves to be safe and uncontaminated.
Clare County Council have also taken a similar step in an effort to contain costs and its reported that its saving upwards a million euro from the move.
