The HSE is promising improved facilities at Ennis General Hospital from next month.
Following the visit of HSE officials to County Clare yesterday, the National Director of the Health Service Executive has said more day surgeries and other procedures will soon be offered in Ennis re-affirming its future status.
The first step is the long awaited Cat scanner facility, which John O’Brien says will be up and running by the end of July with other additions to follow
Meanwhile the Head of the HSE has said he’s sensitive to the concerns of Clare doctors who’ve voiced opposition to the centralisation of A and services in the Mid-West.
Professor Brendan Drumm told Clare FM that he’s aware of the extra work load put on local GPs and the Shannondoc service at night time, since full time Emergency cover ended at Ennis General, but he’s committed to supporting their needs, and insists the changes were for the best
