The HSE is warning Clare householders to be on the lookout for con artists attempting to steal money and personal information from people by pretending to be welfare officers.
Several incidents across the county have already been reported to gardaí
Gardaí in Clare are investigating three specific attempts to to impersonate a community welfare officer in Co Clare area in the past two weeks.
It is understood those involved were hoping to fraudulently obtain monies or services by securing personal details.
The HSE and gardaí are urging people not to hand over money or goods or any personal information without checking with the local HSE office.
They are also warning business people and the general public to be aware of such a scam and to report any suspicious activity to there nearest garda station.
