The extent of cost cutting measures at Ennis General and other hospitals in the HSE West are expected to be announced today.
Members of the Health Forum West from across the region, which stretches from Limerick to Donegal and includes county Clare, will be briefed on the overall finance position of the Region.
Cuts have been sought in recent months to address a deficit which was set to reach 90 million euro by the end of the year.
Patients on public waiting lists and those dependent on home help are expected to bear much of the brunt of the cuts.
No further bed closures are expected, however, elective surgery is expected to be affected which some fear could lead to longer waiting lists.
Health forum member and Ennis Councillor Brian Meaney feels patients in the Mid West have already suffered enough cuts
