The HSE has moved to ease fears that two of Clare's public nursing homes could be closed down because they do not meet necessary standards.
Reports had said that St. Joseph's Hospital in Ennis and the Raheen Community Nursing Unit in Tuamgraney were among over 20 nursing homes across the country where HIQA had identified areas of "major" non-compliance.

The HSE says it's currently working with the health watchdog around units which need to be re-registered this year.
It acknowledges that there are issues with full compliance at some units, and that significant investment will be required, but says it's working closely with HIQA.
