Over 700 householders across the country have already paid the 100 euro household charge since it was introduced five days ago
An online system has been set up by the Household Charge Project Board to allow home-owners to register and pay the monies via credit or debit card.

The charge can also be paid at local authorities, including Clare County Council or by cheque or postal order with the deadline for payments the 31st of March- with penalties applying after this date.
However, opponents to the charge are stepping up their campaign and are confident that up to half of householders won’t register
Over 100 meetings of local campaign groups have already taken place around the country, with meetings planned in Cork and Dublin tonight.
