Clare farmers are expected to be among the thousands set to protest in Dublin today over the Competition Authority’s recent raid on the headquarters of the IFA
The raid was part of investigations into allegations that the Irish Farmer Association has been attempting to fix the price of milk sold in supermarkets.
According to the IFA, the government has failed to ensure fair trade for Irish farmers and protect Irish jobs in the agricultural sector.
Today’s demonstration will get underway at midday when farmers march to the office of the Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation – Richard Bruton.
IFA President John Bryan says the relationship between producers and supermarket multiples is simply not sustainable.
