IHF Head welcomes West County sale

The President of the Irish Hotels Federation says the purchase of the West County as a going concern bodes well for the industry.

The family owned Treacy Hotel Group has bought the landmark hotel in Ennis, which its hoped will secure the employment of 90 full and part-time staff.

The hotel had been in receivership since 2011, and there had been speculation that the site could be purchased for a large retail development.

However, the West County is now set to stay in business, something which President of the IHF and Lahinch hotelier Michael Vaughan fells will be welcomed both on a local and national basis.
