Improvements In Clare Water Supply Issues

Clare County Council says it's making good progress, as it looks to restore water supply to a number of areas.

Water has been restored in a number of communities, but some will be without water again tonight.

A power outage at the Castle Lake Water Treatment plant, caused during Wednesday's storm, resulted in major water shortages in East and South-East Clare.

Electricity was restored there last night, however, and now Council officials are in the process of restoring water to homes and businesses.

Water is already back in Shannon, Newmarket, as well as parts of Bunratty and Cratloe, though Council officials warn householders that it will take time for full supply to be available.

It's hoped water will be switched back on in Kilkishen and Kilmurry later, while water is also being fed along the line to Sixmilebridge and Quin.

In Killaloe, which is effected by a separate problem, water won't be restored tonight and the situation in Feakle is being monitored closely.

Water tankers are also being put in place in a number of areas this afternoon.

Water tankers will be provided at the following locations today Friday 14th February 2014:

·     Sixmilebridge (in the Square)  3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (approx.)

·     Cratloe (in the Church Carpark)  2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (approx.)

·     Kilmurray (in the Church Carpark) 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (approx.)

·     Kilkishen (outside the GAA Pitch) 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (approx.)

·     Killaloe (in Supervalu Carpark)  3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (approx.)

·     Quin (in the Church Carpark)  4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (approx.)

·     Cloonlaheen North (Doologh WTW) 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (approx)

Members of the public are requested to bring their own water containers.

For safety please boil all water for consumption.
