Increase in Aer Lingus Shannon Traffic for 2015

Aer Lingus looks set to bring over 5,000 additional passengers through Shannon Airport next summer.

In an interim management statement, the airline sayss it will hire in an extra plane next summer, and then deploy a larger Boeing-767 aircraft on it's Shannon-Boston service.

This will see an extra 33 seats available on each of the return daily flights during the peak travel season.

Separeately, the head of Aer Lingus says  its ongoing row with workers over its pension fund is almost at an end.

The result of a ballot of workers on whether the company should pump 190-million euros into the airline's pension fund is due in the coming days.

Christoph Mueller says he's confident it will be approved.
