There’s a “huge sense of relief” in North Clare, after a seven week saga came to an end, with the lifting of a “Do Not Drink” water notice.
Around 2,000 houses, and 6,000 residents, were effected by the notice on the Kilmaley Inagh Group Water Scheme, after it was issued in mid-February due to raised aluminium and turbidity levels in the supply.
The scheme is the largest of its kind in all of Europe and the notice meant that homeowners were unable to even cook with their tap water for the past seven weeks.
Inagh Green Party Councillor Róisín Garvey says having drinkable water once again will come as a major relief for those self isolating because of coronavirus.
