INO Concerned at Impact from Closure of Ennis A and E

The Irish Nurses Organisation says there has been an impact on emergency services in the Mid West with the closure of 24 hour A&E at Ennis and Nenagh.

It comes after Senior Health Authority official John Doyle told a recent meeting of the HSE West Forum that the removal of round the clock emergency services hasn’t created pressure.

He added that activity levels between 8 pm and 8 am have been very low at Dooradoyle and by and large beds are available at the regional.

However the INO say this was during August only and there’s deep concern about the impact the transfer of all surgery to Limerick by the end of the month, will have.

But Mid West INO Spokesperson Mary Fogerty says they are working closely with the HSE to try and resolve issues over staffing levels and bed capacity
