Inquiry into Northern Murders “deeply flawed”

An PSNI investigation into how officers handled the murders of Trevor Buchanan and Lesley Howell has found the original inquiry was "deeply flawed".

The pair were found dead in a car in Northern Ireland in 1991 and for 20 years it was believed they had taken their own lives, with officers only establishing what happened when Colin Howell admitted it in 2009.

In a statement family members of the victims said they were deeply disturbed by the findings of the report ,

Lesley Howell’s daughter Lauren said she and her brothers had grown up believing they were not enough for their mother to live for and it was a source of great regret that it had taken so long for the truth to come out.
