An primary school located outside of Ennis has come in for high praise in a report by the Department of Education.
Inspectors say that teachers at Ballyea National School demonstrate ‘exceptional commitment’, that ‘pupils are exemplary in their behaviour’ and that the quality of ‘teaching… is of a very high standard.’

It was also found that Ballyea National School is ‘central to the life of the community’.
A number of recommendations were made, including that the school’s board review class allocation to ensure an equitable distribution of pupils, but the school says work to this regard is already underway.
