Intel Management To Brief Staff Today

Management at Intel's Irish operations are preparing to brief staff on the company's plans to cut 12,000 jobs globally. 

It's understood workers will be told in a series of announcements this week, how they'll be affected.

While full details are as yet unclear – it's believed Intel's plant in Leixlip will be worst affected.

Intel employees over 5,500 people in Ireland – at plants in Kildare, Shannon and Cork. 

Last month the company announced it would shed 12,000 jobs at its operations across the globe and this week workers here will find out how they'll be affected.

The chip manufacturer is restructuring as it says it wants to reduce its reliance on the personal computing market.

It's not yet known which of the factories are affected – however the majority of the cuts are expected in Kildare. 

Local Fianna Fáil TD Frank O'Rourke has been speaking with management in Leixlip:

While no official statement from the tech giant has been released its understood Intel's asked business groups here to allow them the space to brief employees  – before the full impact of cuts is made public.
