A European arrest warrant has been issued for a man wanted in connection with the murder of North Clare woman Eimer O Loughlin.
The move by Interpol comes two months after the remains of Emer O’Loughlin were exhumed as part of a cold case review and a subsequent second post-mortem revealed she’d been murdered.
Investigating officers are now looking for help in tracking down 43 year old John Griffin – known as Fozzy in connection with the death of the 23 year old art student.
Interpol have issued an appeal for help across Europe but its is believed Griffin who went missing two weeks after her death is currently in the UK.. Interpol believe he fled there after faking his death in Ireland.
An initial post-mortem into the death of Emer O Loughlin failed to establish the cause of her death following the discovery of her body in a burnt out caravan near Tubber in April 2005.
However following the exhumation in May text revealed the 23 year old from Ennistymon had been murdered.
Anyone with information on John Griffin should contact fugitive@interpol.int or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
