Ireland Remembers Easter Rising

The President and Taoiseach have led commemorations at the GPO to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

More than 3,500 members of the Defence Forces and emergency service marched through Dublin.

The tricolour was lowered to half-mast while the President laid a wreath outside the GPO to remember all those killed in the Rising.

Children from the four provinces of Ireland laid bunches of daffodils at the pillars of the GPO.

Events to mark the centenary will continue across the country today and tomorrow.
