Irish Rail Playing Waiting Game With Line Flooding

Iarnrod Eireann says there's nothing it can do to speed up the re-opening of the Ennis-Limerick rail line, which looks set to be closed for three months because of flooding.

Trains haven't run on the line since February 2nd, and rail officials now admit it will be late April or early May before water levels at Ballycar subside to allow them to return.

Irish Rail has told Clare FM that efforts to drain the area could have a negative impact on farmland, roads and homes in the area, but spokesperson Jane Cregan admits the current situation is frustrating.
