Irish Water Safety Urge Caution Around Clare’s Waterways

With the unseasonably fine weather this Bank Holiday Weekend, people taking to Clare's waterways are being urged to always exercise caution. 

Irish Water Safety is reminding people that there are an average of 133 drownings in Ireland each year and that tragedy can strike in seconds.

They're appealing to everyone to wear waterproof clothing, while also highlighting the dangers of alcohol, and the importance of keeping an eye on children. 

And Irish Water spokesperson John Leech says their number one piece of advice is to always wear a lifejacket on and near water.
