Councillors in the Killaloe Municipal District have choosen a new Chairperson.

Poll topper Joe Cooney will lead the area for the next 12 months with Pat Hayes as Vice Chairperson.
The position comes with an allowance for 6,000 euro for the Chair, which Fine Gael Cllr Cooney says he will avail of, due to the workload and the size of the new electoral area.
Later today Cathal Crowe of Fianna Fáil is expected to take up the same role in the Shannon municipal District.
