Judicial warning in Prison Officer Drugs Charges Case

The case against a Limerick Prison Officer from Clare may be thrown out unless the State provides the Book of evidence.

51 year old Tomas Corry from Aughrim, Scarriff appeared before Limerick District Court today on 4 drugs charges.

He’s charged with possession of cannabis resin and cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply at
Roxboro Road on the 16th of March.

He is also charged with possession of prescription drugs Alprazolam an d Diazepam for the purpose of sale or supply on the same date.

Inspector Gerry McNamara informed the court that the book of evidence was not ready to be served and
requested an adjournment.

Judge Tom O’Donnell said the matter has been with the DPP since the 18th of March and will mark the case
pre-emptory unless the State serves the book of evidence on the 21st of October.

He remanded Thomas Corry on continuing bail until that date.
