Kenny Says Abolishing Irish Water Would Be “Costly Mistake”

Enda Kenny says it would be a "historic and costly mistake" to abolish Irish Water – but he's prepared to discuss its future with other parties.

The comments come as the Taoiseach also says he has a responsibility to talk to Fianna Fáil about the prospect of forming a government.

Last night the agriculture minister Simon Coveney suggested water charges could be reconsidered – leading to questions over whether outstanding bills should be paid.

But Enda Kenny says it's clear that people should still pay any Irish Water bills they've received:
