Clare’s most senior garda has welcomed recent figures which show the level of crime across the county has remained largely static for the first six months of 2012.
Sexual offences, assaults and instances of property damage are all down, though there has been an increase in the number of thefts.

Chief Superintendent John Kerin- who also addressed yesterday’s Joint Policing Committee is also urging people who have concerns about criminal activity in their area to come forward to their local officers
