A Clare publican who was freed by police after he was kidnapped in Sierra Leone earlier this week is en route back to Ireland.
Gerry Mulconroy of the Tailrace Bar in Parteen was snatched outside a luxury hotel in country’s capital Freetown.
He was freed by local police a number of hours later.

Mr Mulconroy was uninjured in the incident, and police there are currently questioning three men in relation to it.
Its reported he had invested half a million euro in a gold mining business in Sierra Leone last year and had returned to the country upon realising that he had been defrauded.
