Kilkee’s famous diving boards are set to be returned, subject to a number of conditions.
The water safety audit has recommended that the equipment be re-installed but sinage must be erected stating that anyone diving from the boards does so “at their own risk
Ladders which had been removed but later re-installed will remain, though one of these must be replaced.
The audit adds that the equipment must be inspected and certified, while insurance concerns will also have to be addressed
The diving boards at Newfoundout and ladders at the Pollock Holes, Burns Cove, Edmonds Point and Georges Head were controversially removed last month pending the outcome of this safety audit.
It’s not known when the equipment will be re-installed but local Councillor Pat Keane says the audit was carried out in the interests of health and safety
