Kilrush Charity Worker Formerly Based In Beirut Says Explosions Are ‘Catastrophic’

A charity worker from Kilrush, who was recently based in Beirut, has described the impact of last week’s explosions on the city as ‘catastrophic’.

Dan Sissling worked for the Norwegian Refugee Council for a number of years and previously lived around two kilometres from where the blasts took place.

At least 220 people were killed and over 7,000 were injured in last week’s explosions which have left over a quarter of a million people homeless.

Dan, who returned home in January, since the psychological and physical impact of the blasts on the people of Beirut are huge.
