Coastal Rescue services have been boosted in West Clare with the arrival of a new vessel for the Kilrush Lifeboat Crew.
Members of the Kilrush RNLI went on service with their new top of the range Atlantic 85 boat last evening and say the resource worth over 250,000 euro will provide a major boost to their rescue capabilities.
The boat is 10% bigger than the previous Kilrush lifeboat and features advanced technology and a number of new tracking devices aimed at assisting the local RNLI crew in finding vessels or persons in difficulty at sea.
Spokesperson Pauline Dunleavy says the crew have been given green light approval to man the new lifeboat following intensive – and exhaustive – training over the last week.
