Kilrush’s bid to host the 2013 National Famine Commemoration has been sucessful.
Last October Clare County Council and Kilrush Town Council entered a detailed bid to host the event, which was first held in 2009 and will be staged in Munster this year

The West Clare Town was one of the worst affected during the famine, and the bid has received the support of a number of local groups and political representatives
